<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finger vein authentication apparatus that is small and has a high authentication accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The finger vein authentication apparatus in a first embodiment includes a light source, an imaging element, and a casing covering the light source and the imaging element. A finger is put on an imaging window formed in a portion of the casing and a vein pattern within the finger illuminated with light from the light source is imaged.
