PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation position detecting device capable of improving resistance to noise and disturbance magnetic field irrespective of amount of travel of an object to be detected. SOLUTION: This operation position detecting device includes a magnet 23 being movable among a plurality of predetermined positions set in the same plane and a magnetic resistance element 31 for outputting detection signals by corresponding to change of magnetic flux due to travel of the magnet 23. The magnet 23 is formed into a substantially cross shape as a whole and includes a shift direction extended part 23b and a select direction extended part 23c extended in the direction crossing the direction of its travel orthogonally and forming magnetic flux along the direction of its travel.
