PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly advancing paper at the uppermost stage which should be fed downstream without damaging a paper chip end, while certainly stopping traveling of the paper after the next stage which is about to be fed doubly. SOLUTION: A separating member 70 is equipped with a large number of projecting portions 73 at predetermined pitches in a paper feeding direction. A projecting portion 73A on which a chip end of first paper Pa abuts is elastically deformed in addition to the elastic deformation of the whole of the separating member 70, because traveling force F1 of the first paper Pa is large. Consequently, the chip end reaches a guide surface 56a, and advances to the downstream side. The projecting portion 73B on which a chip end of second paper Pb abuts hardly elastically deforms because advancing force F2 of the second paper Pb is small as compared with the first paper Pa. Therefore, the chip end of the second paper Pa cannot reach the guide surface 56a, traveling to the downstream side is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
