<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem in a conventional image forming apparatus: toner adhering to a transfer belt cannot be stably removed since the cleaning blade is turned up due to increased friction between a cleaning blade and the transfer belt by environmental change or change with time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: a transfer belt 461 which moves toner adhered to a surface thereof as it is; a cleaning blade 465 which is provided in contact with this surface; a toner box 466 for storing the toner scraped by the cleaning blade 465; and an agitation device 990 which is rotatably provided within the toner box 466 and agitates the adhered matter scraped by the cleaning blade 465. The agitation device 990 includes at least one or more agitation films 990b for kicking up the toner accumulated within the toner box 466 toward the transfer belt 461.
