<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve measurement of the mass of the molecules of a liquid/solid sample without heat decomposition whatever components the liquid/solid sample contains, and with or without a solvent. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A mass spectrometer includes: an ionization chamber 11 set at a predetermined temperature to vaporize a liquid/solid sample; an introduction unit for introducing the liquid/solid sample to the ionization chamber; an ionization unit for ionizing the liquid/solid sample vaporized in the ionization chamber without fragmentation; and a mass analyzer for measuring the mass of the molecules of the ionized liquid/solid sample. First and second vessels are able to evacuate by an evacuation means, and the second vessel is connected to the first vessel through an aperture. The ionization chamber is provided in the first vessel, and the mass analyzer is provided in the second vessel.
