PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily machine a cylinder head by forming the abutting surfaces and end surfaces of the cylinder head substantially on the same plane. SOLUTION: This engine E includes: a cylinder block 18 with an axis directed to a substantially horizontal direction; the cylinder head 20 connected to the end of the cylinder block 18 and formed with an intake port 85 and an exhaust port 83; a head cover 21 mounted by abutting on the end surface of the cylinder head 20; camshafts 22A, 22B controlling opening and closing of the intake port 85 and exhaust port 83; and journal members 23A-1, 23A-2, 23B-1, 23B-2 rotatably supporting the camshafts 22A, 22B between the abutting surfaces 93A of the cylinder head 20 and the journal members.
