PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve having simple construction for accurately shutting off the flow of fluid in a valve closed condition while easily selecting a normal open form or a normal closed form depending on applications. SOLUTION: The valve includes a shaft, a driver for operating the shaft, and a valve element unit consisting of a spherical or semi-spherical first valve element, a cylindrical second valve element having an annular groove in the outer periphery, and a connection member connecting the first valve element to the second valve element. In the valve element unit, the first valve element is arranged for abutting on part of a flow path to shut off the flow of the fluid in the flow path. The valve element unit is in a closed condition with the driver in a non-operating condition and in an open condition with the driver in an operating condition when the second valve element is arranged to be opposed to one end of the shaft, and it is in the open condition with the driver in the non-operating condition and in the closed condition with the driver in the operating condition when the first valve element is arranged to be opposed to one end of the first shaft.
