<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an age estimation method and an age estimation device for stably estimating an age from features of a face. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device includes determination machines 3-1 to 3-6 which roughly classify the age into more/less than a predetermined age by focusing on that there is not a full correlation between a feature value of a face and the age (there are many exceptions), and a determination-result integrating section 4 which integrates respective determination results of the determination machines 3-1 to 3-6 and estimates the age of a person with the face image. Though it is not a little possible to erroneously determine the age because of "the difference between an actual age and an apparent age around a predetermined age", "the difference among individuals and the variation in the apparent age", and "the difference in secular tendency on sex", a determination performance is improved for a face presenting apart from the predetermined age, thereby achieving stabler age estimation than a conventional age estimation method.
