The invention relates to an electric machine comprising a rotor that is mounted to be rotatable about an axis of rotation (2), a stator which surrounds the rotor, and one or more cavities (1) for accommodating rectangular permanent magnets (4, 4'). The permanent magnets (4, 4') in the cavity (1) are entirely or partially surrounded by a plastic (12). A cavity (1) has two receiving zones (5, 5') next to each other in the circumferential direction of the rotor. A permanent magnet (4, 4') is arranged in each receiving zone (5, 5').
