A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SYNCHRONIZING THE INITIAL VECTOR IV IN THE BLOCK CIPHER RUN MODE

A method for synchronizing the initial vector IV in the block cipher run mode includes the following steps: 1) division of the IV: the IV is divided into two parts IV1 and IV2; 2) the initial value is determined; 3) the IV1 is transmitted; 4) the IV2 is computed and stored locally, then the synchronizing IV is obtained by both of the encryption and decryption ends. The traditional IV is divided into two parts by the present invention, and only a part of the IV is transmitted by utilizing the limited transmission resources, and the remaining part of the IV is computed and stored locally according to the transmitted part of the IV, therefore the IV synchronizing problem at both of the encryption and decryption ends is solved, and the application request with higher command for security with limited resources is satisfied. An apparatus for synchronizing the initial vector IV in the block cipher run mode is also provided by the present invention.
