<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of being difficult to extremely reduce energy consumption, when forcibly feeding fuel to a pressure accumulating pipe 20. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel pump 10 has a pair of plungers 62a and 62b, and pressure chambers 63a and 63b are partitioned by these plungers and a cylinder. The fuel flows backward from the pressure accumulating pipe 20 via back-flow passages 68a and 68b to the side corresponding to a suction stroke among the pressure chambers 63a and 63b. Thus, force in the displacement direction on the side corresponding to the suction stroke among the plungers 62a and 62b, is impressed on the side corresponding to a delivery stroke.
