<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink composition capable of achieving high-quality image without white stripe and rough deposit feeling even in a low resolution when a printing actual stock such as art paper is used, and capable of suppressing the occurrence of curl even though the printing actual stock has a small basis weight. <P>SOLUTION: The ink composition for inkjet recording contains at least a coloring material, water, an alcoholic solvent, and a surfactant. The alcoholic solvent comprises a water-insoluble alkanediol, a water-soluble 1,2-alkanediol, an alkanediol having a side chain on either carbons having a hydroxy group, and a water-soluble alkanetriol.
