<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro-catheter of new constitution including a balloon conformable to the shape in complex vasculature without applying stress to a blood vessel. <P>SOLUTION: This catheter 10 used for treatment of complex vasculature (such as a bifurcated aneurysm) includes an inflatable balloon 20 at a distal portion. The shape, location and material of the inflatable balloon 20 are selected such that when inflated, the balloon 20 conforms to the shape of the complex vasculature, or at least a portion thereof, without appreciable deforming the vessel walls. In this manner, the balloon 20 is used to control flow in the vasculature, occluding a selected branch of the vasculature during introduction of material in order to concentrate the material and minimize its disbursement by blood flow. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
