PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a building in a photographed image and the other ground objects on map data. SOLUTION: A video camera 122 loaded on a vehicle photographs a building while traveling, and segments a frame image. As for a building commonly projected to a plurality of fame images, a photographic distance from a photographic location to the building is calculated by stereo-matching. Candidate buildings as objects are extracted by referring to map data, and the candidate buildings whose photographic locations to be obtained by setting the photographic locations at the locations separated from the surface of the building only by a photographic distance come to spots which can be properly photographed are narrowed down from the candidate buildings. Also, the buildings suitable for the building width which can be calculated form the photographic images are narrowed down. Thus, it is possible to specify the building in the image on map data.
