PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide organic solvent-soluble hydrophobic modified polyrotaxane. SOLUTION: The hydrophobic modified polyrotaxane comprises cyclic molecules, a linear molecule which pierces the cyclic molecules to form a clathrate therewith, and blocking groups which are disposed at both ends of this linear molecule and prevent the cyclic molecules from being released. The cyclic molecules are a cyclodextrin, and all or part of the hydroxy groups of the cyclodextrin have been modified with a hydrophobic modifying group. The modified group has a (-CO(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>5</SB>OH) group as a modified group by caprolactone. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
