A portable broadcasting receiving apparatus and a method for re-detecting a broadcasting signal thereof are provided to calculate a next broadcasting burst arrival forecast time by using a delta-T included in a header of a broadcasting sector lastly received, turn on the power of a broadcasting receiving unit when the next broadcasting burst arrival forecast time arrives, and re-detect a broadcasting signal to prevent unnecessary power consumption. A broadcasting receiving unit(110) receives a broadcasting burst. When the broadcasting burst is received in the broadcasting receiving unit(110), a clock storing unit(120) initializes a clock buffer. The clock storing unit(120) updates a broadcasting section receiving time in the clock buffer whenever each broadcasting section is received. When the reception of a broadcasting section is stopped while the broadcasting section is received, a control unit(130) calculates a broadcasting section receiving time of the lastly received broadcasting section stored in the clock buffer and a next broadcasting burst arrival forecast time by using previously received broadcasting information. A power control unit(140) turns off the power of the broadcasting receiving unit(110) before the next broadcasting burst arrival forecast time calculated by the control unit(130) arrives. The power control unit(140) turns on the power of the broadcasting receiving unit(110) when the next broadcasting burst arrival forecast time arrives, and resumes the reception of the broadcasting burst.
