PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner capable of obtaining high-definition images by achieving miniaturization of the whole apparatus, and uniformizing image field illumination distribution on a scanned surface by reducing flare light, and to obtain an image forming apparatus using the optical scanning apparatus. SOLUTION: In the case of performing deflection scanning of a plurality of luminous fluxes emitted from a plurality of light source means by a plurality of deflecting surfaces of the same light deflector, and then, scanning the plurality of different surfaces to be scanned with the luminous fluxes through an imaging optical system, the plurality of luminous fluxes are made incident on a plane vertical to the rotating axis of the light deflector with a limited angle, and a light-shielding member for shielding the flare light made incident on the scanned surface after being reflected by the optical surface of the imaging optical system facing the light deflector is disposed in the optical path of the imaging optical system, and when respective parameters are set, the optical scanning apparatus satisfies following conditional inequalities: 0.01<D/L<0.2 and H>1(mm)+(2D+T)tanθ.
