PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope can reduce the fatigue of an operator without making the operator take an unreasonable posture even in the case of largely changing an observation direction in the state of inserting an insertion part into a body cavity. SOLUTION: The endoscope includes the insertion part 12 to be inserted into the body cavity, an operation part 13 having a clamping part 17, and a turning connection part 24 for turnably connecting the insertion part 12 and the operation part 13. The turning connection part 24 is freely movable between a first form wherein the longitudinal axis of the insertion part 12 and the longitudinal axis of the operation part 13 are roughly perpendicular and a second form wherein the longitudinal axis of the insertion part 12 and the longitudinal axis of the operation part 13 roughly match.
