PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract characteristic moving images from among moving images recorded in compliance with a predetermined data recording format, and automatically edit the moving images. SOLUTION: This information processing apparatus is provided with: a detection part 104 for detecting information on the features of AV streams to be imaged; a recording part 114 for recording, on a recording medium in compliance with the predetermined data recording format, a plurality of the AV streams, clip information which defines attributes including the feature information detected by the detection part with respect to each of the AV streams, and one or more pieces of reproduction section data for designating a reproduction section by setting a reproduction start point and a reproduction finish point with respect to each of the AV streams; a reproduction section setting part 108 for setting a reproduction section with respect to the AV stream on the basis of the point of time of detection of feature information; and a data creation part 112 for creating reproduction section data for designating a plurality of reproduction sections set by the reproduction section setting part.
