<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorbing resin particle and a method for producing it, which has excellent shock resistance since it is not affected by a great lowering in a passing liquid flow rate due to impact such as collision during its conveyance, and exhibits excellent water absorbing performance for an aqueous liquid or humor such as urine, menstrual blood and sweat. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The water absorbing composite material particle is produced by fixing a water-insoluble fiber (B) with fiber length of 1-300 μm to a water absorbing cross-linked polymer particle (A). In the water absorbing composite material particle, a ratio of the water-insoluble fiber (B) to 100 pts.wt. of the water absorbing cross-linked polymer particle (A) is 0.1-10 pts.wt.
