<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for attaching and detaching a printing plate by a conventional printer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for attaching and detaching the printing plate of the sheet-fed printer which causes the printing plate to be attached to and detached from a plate cylinder comprises the steps of holding the printing plate in the plate cylinder of a holding side plate fastening part, inserting by press in the holding side plate fastening part to be secured, and applying a printing pressure between the plate cylinder and a blanket cylinder; rotating a machine body, adhering the printing plate to the plate cylinder, stopping in a predetermined position of a plate hip, and naturally inserting the plate hip of the printing plate in a hip side plate fastening part by the printing pressure and also expanding the plate; loosening plate expansion in a predetermined position of removal, automatically loosening the hip side plate fastening part and holding side plate fastening force, and naturally removing the plate hip from the hip side plate fastening force by the reaction force of the printing plate; and reversing the machine body, stopping in a predetermined position of plate removal and removing the printing plate.
