PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially suitable manufacturing method of a metal salt of 3-hydroxyacrylonitrile. SOLUTION: The metal salt of 3-hydroxyacrylonitrile is manufactured by causing carbon monoxide to react with acetonitrile in the presence of a metal alkoxide without using a solvent other than acetonitrile.
