The invention relates to a contribution to pseudo-stereophonics. A monophonic audio signal of arbitrary directional characteristic is subjected to targeted delay differences (1210, 1211) and loudness corrections (derived from 1212 and 1213), while parameterizing the angle phi (1205) included by the main axis (1203) and the direction of impingement of the sound source (1204), an imaginary left opening angle alpha (1206), and an imaginary right opening angle beta (1207), and the directional characteristic of the mono signal to be stereophonicized (represented in polar coordinates). The result is an M-signal and an S-signal allowing MS matrix formation (and thereby the stereophonic reproduction of the originally monophonic audio signal). Main applications of the invention, being simple in the technical design thereof and therefore miniaturizable, are the targeted stereophonicization of telephone signals, the spatial dispersion of monophonically recorded sound sources, and stereophonicization of mono recordings having sound sources at different locations. |
