The method involves using an electric motor (40) e.g. stepper motor, as a part of a drive unit (1), which includes a superior control system (10) and an evaluation device. A motor control unit (30) is directly arranged at the motor. Signals of a sensor i.e. temperature sensor (60), are processed and transmitted to the system over a control line (20) by the unit. A speed parameter (12) is transmitted from the system to the unit and measured values i.e. temperature values, of the sensor are transmitted from the unit to the system, over the line in a bidirectional manner. An independent claim is also included for a device for transmitting a measured value with an electric motor.
