The method involves attaching a position detecting element (11a) e.g. electro magnetic position sensor, at an examination object (14). Two-dimensional projection image data sets and two position data of the position detecting element are received, where the examination object takes a position relative to a radiation source (2) and to a radiation detector (4). A three-dimensional image data set is reconstructed from the two-dimensional image data sets, which are registered with each other over an assigned position data, by considering the position data. An independent claim is also included for an X-ray apparatus comprising a position detecting element.
