<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analyte detecting method of non-label for reducing a background signal and responding to various analytes. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This analyte detecting method has processes of: bringing fluid 83 having a refractive index equal to that of a substrate 81 into contact with a surface of the substrate 81; bringing the analyte 88 into contact with the surface of the substrate 81; radiating an incoming light 84 to the surface of the substrate 81; and detecting reflected light 86 on the interface between of the surface of the substrate 81 and the fluid 83.
