PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device in which dislocation between a switching element and an operation button disposed on a front panel is surely prevented and assembling work of the front panel can be simplified. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device is provided with a base chassis, the front panel mounted to the front of the base chassis, the operation button disposed on the front face of the front panel, the switching element operated by the operation button, and a switching substrate holding the switching element, in which the switching substrate is fixed to the base chassis via a substrate bracket to oppose the switching element to the operation button. Thereby, the front panel is attached to the base chassis and the substrate bracket, and therefore, the operation button disposed on the front panel and the switching element can be surely made correspondent to each other.
