<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a structure, for generating a JDF (Job Definition Format) job ticket by use of a printer definition file (e.g., a PPD or GPD (General Printer Definition)) corresponding to a selected printing system. <P>SOLUTION: A JDF element for specifying a print parameter materializes an available function based on the JDF specification. Thus, the JDF job ticket is generated by deciding the print parameter from the selected available function in the printer definition file. The available function in the printer definition file is presented to an application program or to a user. The application or user can select a desired function from the presented functions. The JDF element corresponding to the selected function is output and is stored as the JDF job ticket representing a print job.
