PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive which prevents a fault of a spindle motor from occurring by stopping impression of rotation start voltage to enhance the reliability of a main body of the device. SOLUTION: After starting of rotating operation of the spindle motor 13 by the rotation start voltage, when rotational frequency of a spindle motor 13 detected by an FG (Frequency Generator) sensor 12 does not exceed a fixed rotational frequency within a predetermined time, a controller 10 performs intermittent drive control to repeat reimpression processing until the rotational frequency of the spindle motor 13 detected by the FG sensor 12 exceeds the fixed rotational frequency. This reimpression processing is a process to impress the rotation start voltage to the spindle motor 13 again by stopping once impression of the rotation start voltage. Then the controller 10 performs intermittent drive control until the count of a counter 10A reaches a predetermined value N. Meanwhile the controller 10 stops the impression of the rotation start voltage to the spindle motor 13 by stopping the intermittent drive control when the count of the counter 10A reaches the predetermined value N.
