PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device whose reliability is improved by preventing information loss due to contact between a data recording area of a recording medium and a base even when the recording medium receives big impact to deform. SOLUTION: The disk device is provided with: a base 10 having a bottom wall 11; a motor 13 provided on the base; a disk 12 supported by the motor and facing the bottom wall of the base; a head; and a head actuator 14 provided freely rotatably over the base to support the head freely movably with respect to the disk. The bottom wall of the base has: a recessed part 52 provided oppositely in the moving area of the head actuator; and first and second step parts 54a and 53b respectively extending from the vicinity of the motor up to the vicinity of the outer circumferential edge of the disk, defining the recessed part. At least a portion of the first step part provided on the center side of turning of the head actuator is provided on the opposite side from the head actuator with respect to a line L connecting an outer edge part 55 of the first step part and the rotational center of the disk.
