PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion device capable saving energy to reduce wasteful burner combustion. SOLUTION: The water passing through a heat exchanger is heated by combustion of a burner, and supplied from a hot water supply pathway when a hot-water tap is opened. In utilizing hot-water supply, the quantity of heat held by the heat exchanger by the last hot-water supply is determined by a holding heat quantity detecting means 30. An ignition timing control means 35 includes a combustion function of an economical mode operation for comparing the holding heat quantity determined by the holding heat quantity detecting means 30 with a predetermined ignition reference threshold obtained by a heat quantity value by every utilization of hot-water supply, and not performing an ignition operation of the burner when the holding heat quantity is the ignition reference threshold or more in a hot-water supply operation, but performing the ignition operation when the holding heat quantity becomes lower than the ignition reference threshold.
