<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor capable of making the best use of a storage medium and capable of dividing automatically one piece of information recorded over a plurality of storage media at a meaningful position. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The information processor 1 includes a residual time duration acquiring portion 152, a reproducing time duration acquiring portion 154, a comparator portion 156, a dividing point determining portion 158, and a recording portion 160. The residual time duration acquiring portion 152 acquires a residual time duration when information can be newly record on a storage medium. The regenerating time duration acquiring portion 154 acquires a reproducing time duration for at least one piece of content to be recorded on the storage medium. The comparator portion 156 compares the residual time duration with the reproducing time duration of single content. When the reproducing time duration of the single content is longer than the residual time duration, the dividing point determining portion 158 employs a characteristic point in the content as a dividing point. The recording portion 160 records the content on the storage medium from the reproducing starting point, where content reproduction is started, to the dividing point.
