The operating system has multiple vehicle seats (10,20,30,40) and an electrical coupling unit in an operating unit (70). Evaluation and control units (12,22,32,42) evaluate a transmitted data, to detect a seat position of a user. One of the operating units is formed as mobile operating unit (60) with a communication unit (64). The communication unit of the mobile operating unit configures a signal path for data transmission to another communication units (14,24,34,44), which are arranged in the vehicle seats.
