Provided are an emulsion composition for a vibration damping material which has superior heating and drying properties and can form a good coated film exhibiting superior vibration damping characteristics without swelling when the coated film is heated and dried, and an emulsion composition for a vibration damping material which is effectively used as the vibration damping material in various structural elements and can exhibit the basic functions demanded in a vibration damping material, in particular the composition can exhibit markedly superior anti-sagging even under the condition of high humidity which produces sagging of a coated film in conventional technology or under the condition of a thick film. The emulsion composition for a vibration damping material includes an emulsion which has an emulsion-polymerized monomer component as an essential component. The emulsion composition for a vibration damping material includes 0.5 - 20 mass% of a coated film-forming auxiliary agent which has a weight average molecular weight of 100 - 20,000 with respect to 100 mass% of the emulsion composition for a vibration damping material.
