PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording erasing method, and a magnetic recording erasing device achieving high-speed and high-density magnetic recording and erasing. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording erasing method reversing the magnetization of a magnetic section (I) including a magnetic body (1) performing magnetic recording and an object to be irradiated (2) having a first electron band having spin-orbit interaction and a second electron band having the energy level higher than a first electron band, circular polarization (L) whose wavelength is 1μm or less is projected to the object to be irradiated (2), thereby, electrons are excited from the first electron band to the second electron band, then magnetization of the magnetic section (I) is reversed.
