CIRCUIT FOR POWER FACTOR CORRECTION

PURPOSE: A power factor correction circuit is provided to suppress the heat by reducing the forward voltage drop and simplify a configuration by excluding a bridge rectification circuit. CONSTITUTION: A first booster boosts an input voltage while a positive input voltage is applied. A second booster(200) boosts the input voltage while a negative input voltage is applied. A first booster switching element(Q1) controls the discharge and charge of the first booster. A second booster switching element(Q2) controls the charge and discharge of the second booster. A detection voltage provider(300) detects the current flowing through the first booster switching element and provides the detected current value as the positive voltage. The detection voltage provider detects the current flowing through the second booster switching element and provides the detected current as the positive voltage.
