The device (10) has electronic components (22, 24, 26, 28) e.g. transistors, and a control device (18), which is designed to directly or indirectly detect a current- and/or voltage characteristic at a coil of a magnetic valve. The control device detects a supply voltage of the magnetic valve by a current- and/or voltage sensor (20). The sensor is connected with the control device by a line (70). A temperature sensor (30) is provided for detecting a temperature of the magnetic valve. The control device receives a time signal by a controller area network bus. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling and monitoring a magnetic valve of an electrical hand brake of a commercial vehicle.
