#CMT# #/CMT# The device (35) has a laser source for emitting an infrared laser beam (10) to transmit data towards an optical laser sensor i.e. photoelectric cell. The laser source is arranged at an end of a cabin of an aircraft. The sensor is associated with a seat. A collimate unit is constituted of a diverging lens (31), parabolic mirror (32), holographic mirror and holographic lens for collimating the laser beam. Mirrors guide the collimated laser beam by the reflexion from the source to the sensor. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Optical device i.e. semi-reflective mirror, for use in an in-flight entertainment (IFE) system for transmitting data i.e. audio or video multimedia data, for broadcasting video on demand service to a passenger of an aircraft. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The device avoids the need of a cable for transmitting the data, thus reducing the production cost, installation cost and weight of the device, reducing the maintenance of the device, providing more flexibility in the case of uninstallation of the device for reconfiguring the cabin, and simplifying the development of the wiring harness of the aircraft in case of installation on the aircraft. The device reduces the risk of inopportune obstruction and reduces the spatial density of lighting power, thus minimizing the risk of danger to the eyes and correcting the eventual misalignment of the beam.
