PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preserve food over a long period, while securing the food storage volume of a storage chamber with an inexpensive structure, in a refrigerator. SOLUTION: This refrigerator has a low pressure chamber 24 arranged in the storage chamber and a pressure reducing means for reducing pressure in this low pressure chamber 24. The low pressure chamber 24 has a low pressure chamber body 40 having a food taking in and out opening part 42a, and a low pressure chamber door 50 for opening-closing the food taking in and out opening part 42a. The low pressure chamber body 40 has the box-shaped resin contour 42 forming the food taking in and out opening part 42a and forming a glass pane placing opening part 42b on an upper surface, a transparent glass pane 43 airtightly placed in the glass pane placing opening part 42b via annular packing 45, and a metallic plate-like member 44 having both side walls 42c of the contour 42, both side walls 44a corresponding to a bottom wall 42d and a back wall 42e, a bottom wall 44b and a back wall 44c. A clearance between an upper surface of the glass pane 43 and a shelf for partitioning the inside of a refrigeration chamber, is formed as a cold air passage 37 for introducing cold air forward.
