CAMERA SYSTEM

A camera system comprises a camera body (100) and an interchangeable lens (200).  The camera body is provided with an imaging means for capturing an image in a predetermined imaging cycle and generating image data, a body controlling means (140) for generating a synchronous signal with a first cycle correlated with the imaging cycle, and a transmitting means (150) for transmitting the synchronous signal to the interchangeable lens.  The body controlling means transmits information indicating a second cycle different from the first cycle to the interchangeable lens.  The interchangeable lens is provided with a focus lens (230), a driving means (233) for driving the focus lens along an optical axis, a receiving means (250) for receiving the synchronous signal and information indicating the second cycle transmitted from the camera body, and a lens controlling means (240) for controlling the motion of the interchangeable lens.  The lens controlling means controls the driving means such that the focus lens is driven to move slightly back and forth along the optical axis in the second cycle, and performs control different from the driving for slight back and forth movement in the interchangeable lens in the first cycle.
