PURPOSE: An azo compound or its salt as a dye is provided to ensure high solubility and use as a colorant of color filter. CONSTITUTION: An azo compound is denoted by the chemical formula(I). In the chemical formula(I), A is a phenyl group with one or more groups selected from halogen atom, methyl group, methoxy group, nitro group, sulfonyl group, sulfamonyl group or N-sustitution sulfamonyl group or naphthyl group with one or more groups selected from halogen atom, methyl group, methoxy group, nitro group, sulfonyl group, sulfamonyl group, or N-substitution sulfamoyl group. |
