PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining operating conditions of a heating furnace, capable of improving a furnace efficiency and decreasing a unit consumption of a heating furnace whose inner wall surface is coated with a highly emissive paint, regardless of its operating status. SOLUTION: The method for determining the operating conditions of the heating furnace for improving the furnace efficiency of the heating furnace whose inner wall surface is coated with the highly emissive paint comprises a step of increasing the temperature-rising rate of the heating furnace in prescribed increments from the temperature-rising rate adopted before applying the highly emissive paint and calculating the furnace efficiency to determine the optimum temperature-rising rate at which the calculated furnace efficiency becomes the highest.
