DISCHARGE LAMP AND BACKLIGHT

A discharge lamp and a back light are provided to suppress the poor contact of the solder layer and the lead line used for the liquid crystal television or the personal computer etc. A glass bulb has a discharge space(11). An electrode(5) is arranged within the discharge space. A lead line is sealed and attached to the end part of the glass bulb. One end of lead line is connected to the electrode and the other end of lead line is drawn outside the glass bulb. A solder layer(8) is formed at the outer edge part of the glass bulb in order to attain enlightenment with the lead line. A gap(9) is formed between the lead line and the glass bulb. Soldering is flowed into the gap.
