PURPOSE: A sprocket for a chain is provided to reduce an engagement noise of a roller or bush by forming the teeth with two kinds of teeth pitch angles. CONSTITUTION: A tooth surface portion includes a tooth groove(14) in a tooth gap bottom portion and a plurality of teeth(15) formed between adjacent tooth grooves. A roller of a roller chain(50) or bush of a bush chain is engaged with the tooth groove. The teeth have two kinds of tooth pitch angles with different sizes. The tooth pitch angle is irregularly arranged along the circumference of a pitch circle. The tooth gap bottom diameter of the tooth shape or tooth gap bottom distance is larger than the tooth gap bottom diameter or the tooth gap bottom distance of the standard sprocket. The teeth are integrated with the sprocket.
