Clutch lining comprises fiber-reinforced ceramic material containing carbon short fibers with a matrix containing at least 40 % silicon carbide. - Independent claims are also included for: - (a) process for the production of a clutch lining; - (b) clutch plates comprising a support made from a metal or fiber-reinforced ceramic material provided with the above clutch lining; and - (c) clutch system containing the clutch plates.
