<p>A fuel injector 10 has a fuel nozzle body 12 attached to an elongated feed arm 14 through which primary and secondary fuel may be delivered. Within the nozzle body is a first nozzle component 24 and a second nozzle component 26. A layer of braze is applied to at least one of the first and second nozzle components, and these are assembled to engage each other with a diametral interference fit. The diametral interference fit can be achieved by thermally resizing at least one of the first and second nozzle components, and this may be achieved by heating or cooling to expand or contract the component prior to assembly. The provision of an interference fit allows the use of a thin layer of braze in order to achieve a brazed joint. The thin braze layer ensures that fuel passages 70, 72, and air passages 20 are substantially free of braze fillets and blockages. The invention relates to the fuel injector apparatus which has a brazed and interference fit joint, and also to a method of assembly. The injector may be used in a combustion device of a gas turbine engine.</p> |
