PURPOSE: A printing device and a control method including a data compression unit are provided to reduce power consumption of an image fixing unit without reducing throughput of printing operation. CONSTITUTION: A printing device(301) includes a fixing unit, a storing unit, and a controlling unit. The fixing unit fixes a toner on paper by heating the paper on a toner by using a heating unit. The control unit controls the heating unit in order to maintain the temperature without printing the paper. The control unit determines maintenance temperature based on kinds of paper identified from the printing device. The printing device comprises the production unit. The calculation unit calculates the maintenance temperature. |
