The selected goods are placed in an intermediate station (5) before being collected or delivered by the user. The vending system (1) includes a wall unit (2) with user identification and payment functionalities. After identification, the authorized customer is then given a choice whether to select pick-up or deposit mode. For the pick-up mode, the customer selects and pays for the goods, after which they can be collected. The goods are stored in compartments inside a carousel (3), which is rotated into a position where the customer can collect the paid-for goods. For the deposit mode, the carousel is rotated into a position in which the customer can deposit the goods in the correct compartment.
