System for controlling a hybrid power unit having power tap-off for a motor vehicle provided with at least two driving wheels (3a, 3b), comprising an electrical energy storage element (4), an electronic control means (5), a means (9) for controlling the power unit, an internal combustion engine (1), two electrical machines (2a, 2b) mechanically linked to the driving wheels (3a, 3b) and to the internal combustion engine (1), state sensors for determining the state of the electrical energy storage element (4) that are capable of emitting at least one signal to the electronic control means (5), sensors for detecting the power passing via the two electrical machines (2a, 2b) and a sensor (1a) for detecting the rotation speed of the internal combustion engine (1). The electronic control means (5) comprises a means (6) for detecting saturation of the electric power measured by the power sensors passing via the electrical machines, a means (7) for determining a corrected range of setpoint values of the electric power passing via the electrical energy storage element (4) as a function of the saturation detection, and a computer means (8) for computing a setpoint value of the electric power passing via the electrical machines as a function of said corrected setpoint range, said electronic control means (5) being capable of controlling the internal combustion engine (1) and the two electrical machines (2a, 2b) so as to regulate the electric power passing via the electrical energy storage element (4) according to the computed setpoint.
