PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side plate which prevents a portion attached to the column from undergoing torsion etc. because the side plate is not deformed by the influence of heat of welding when the side plate is attached to a flange of a beam, and which facilitates welding operations because a backing material is not separately required when the side plate is welded to the beam; and to provide a column-beam joint structure using the side plate. SOLUTION: A backing portion 5 is provided on the backside of a joint wherein a main body portion 3 is joined to the beam. The backing portion 5, which partially overhangs from the main body portion 3, is provided along the joint to the beam. Ribs 7a and 7b are provided astride the backing portion 5 on the backside of the main body portion 3. Ends of the ribs 7a and 7b have surfaces almost flush with a top surface of a portion, overhanging from the main body portion 3, of the backing portion 5. The ribs 7a and 7b serve as portions to be joined to the backside of the flange of the beam. In addition, the rib 7a is provided near a joint (a long-side lateral surface of the main body portion 3) wherein the side plate 1 is joined to the column. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
